London - Shoppers Paradise
London is the shopping capital of the world. From the boutiques of Bond Street to the teeming Oxford Street fashion stores and vibrant street markets, there is something to suit even the most discerning of shoppers. Pick up the perfect gift from a luxury department store like Fortnum Mason or wile away an afternoon in the world famous halls of Harrods. Along with Paris and New York, London offers probably the best shopping experience of any city in the world. Indeed, visitors to the capital are often overwhelmed by the sheer range of goods available. The shoppers are spoilt for choice. For major international and British Brands, London s main shopping areas tend to centre on Oxford Street and Regent Street, while Knightsbridge is home to stores stocking even more up market goods. Anyone looking for specialist items should head to Covent Garden, whilst those with serious money to spend gravitate towards New Bond Street home to some of Britain s most exclusive shops . If...
Thrift Store Shopping Tips
If you are tired of seeing the same old clothing styles at mall department stores and boutiques, it may be time to add a little spice to your wardrobe. Rather than looking just like everyone else, thrift stores offer access to unique items not found anywhere else- at least not in the last twenty or so years. Not only are thrift store clothes relatively inexpensive, but they can also be ultra hip. If you approach it the right way, you may be able to create your very own personal style by mixing the old and the new. When you first decide to embark on a thrift store shopping spree, there are a few things to remember. Firstly, a lot of thrift stores only take cash, so if you are used to grabbing Daddy s credit card and going to town, you ll have to make other arrangements. Some stores do take checks, so you might want to have your checkbook handy. Secondly, a lot of thrift stores do not have dressing rooms, so you ll probably want to wear a light t-shirt so you can try on...
Reflecting Telescopes
When people think of telescopes, reflecting telescopes are usually the last things that come to mind. Rather, people tend to think of a straight tube with lenses at either side. This is unfortunate, since there are several ways to bend light so that it is magnified to the point where a person on the ground can make out the features on Jupiter, the billowing gasses of a distant nebula, or the light of distant stars. In fact, if a stargazer wants to peer into the inky voids of space with a scope of manageable size, a reflecting telescope will serve them well. Reflecting telescopes use mirrors to magnify images, allowing the image to be enlarged a few times before coming through the eyepiece. This is simpler to implement than a standard, straight-through refracting telescope, as it allows several smaller adjustments to the image than a few, very large changes with lenses. And, by doing this with mirrors, the design of the telescope can be made much more compact, allowing...
The Episode Smelled Around The World: Flavor Of Love, Season Ii Premiere
August 2006 has already brought forth a few unforgettable reality television moments: In one week I have seen a female contestant take a dump on an Italian marble floor during the first episode of Flavor of Love 2, Dwayne Dog Chapman marry his common-law wife Beth wearing a pair of white jeans and a white Chippendales vest on Dog The Bounty Hunter, Keith Michael get kicked off of Project Runway, and Gene Simmons introduce his new show Family Jewels -- which might just be the most offensive and lame reality show I have seen since.....ever. But, the reality TV moment destined to be watched on YouTube more than The History of Dance Guy goes to: Flavor of Love, Season Number Two -- a relationship dating show featuring Flavor Flav of Public Enemy. You know Flav, right. He s the guy who s the size of a circus peanut and wears Movado clocks around his neck. Well, Flav s star is rising once again, and with moments like this he ll be getting his own star on the sidewalk. Sure it...
